New chairman

The Friends of St John are seeking a new chairwoman or chairman – could it be you?

The charity the ‘Friends of St John’s Church, Keynsham’ exists to provide for the restoration, upkeep and improvement of the parish church and churchyard.   This 12th century building is hugely significant for the town, and a treasure trove of history through the centuries.

The chairmanship is not an onerous task – and the charity has scope for expanding its activities and presence within the Church and town, which a new chair could bring about without needing significant time or effort, given the willingness of the current trustees to help.

The trustees of the charity meet a couple of times a year to plan activities such as the recent history talk on Zoom about the Church clock and church clocks generally.  There is also an AGM for all members of the charity in June.

The charity, was founded in 1990 as The Bridges Society.  Whilst linked with the Church, it is a completely separate organisation.  It has had a distinguished history, contributing over £50,000 towards maintaining and improving the Church since the Charity’s foundation.
